So yeah. At 1:10 this afternoon, I turned fifteen. I am fifteen ears old.
O_O As with all birthdays, I don't feel much different than I did yesterday, but it will certainly be an adjustment in some ways. It's a good thing I went ahead and learned how to say I'm 15 in Japanese.
I've started taking Japanese lessons!! It is so much fun!
^_^ Today I practiced hiragana, which is one of the
four writing systems in Japanese. Crazy, right? Way too many characters to learn, but at least it's phonetic. And the characters are so much prettier than English letters.
Dad and I ate lunch at our favorite sushi restaurant, and he gave me a really pretty bracelet with rose quartz. My mom and step-dad are taking me to see Toy Story 3 tonight, and that should be fun as well. There is also a cake waiting for me downstairs.

The actual party will come later this week, I think (if people are available).
Mom's been having a hard time finding a job this year... We're pretty sure she'll have to move out of state, in which case I will stay here with my dad and spend weekends with her. So don't worry, I'll still be here.
I just ate some fresh strawberries, and they were awwwesome. They smell like summer.
Hopefully everyone is as happy as I am today!
Vacation! (updates, sort of)
Guess who doesn't have to go to school tomorrow? Yeah, that's right...
Sadly, however, I have to finish Tolkein's Fellowship of the Ring by the end of next week, and I've barely gotten 1/3 done. Fuck. Plus I have hiiiiiiiiiiiistory homework. Lots of it.
I mean, LOTR is amazing and everything, but I really wish I'd picked something shorter...
Today my family life kinda sucks. People tell me their parents are a pain during Christmas time, but they should try having a mother who's a pastor. *shudders*
Ooh, ooh! Just checked my grades, and I got A's on both of my major English tests! Yay! But my GPA is still a B+ because I got a 33 on a science assignment. Oops.
I've gotten back into writing a little bit, but the story I'm working on is stupid. No one would like it.
But the interesting part of my story is that one of the major characters, Yuko, has a love interest, and she's another girl. As I mentioned before on this blog, I am straight, so I'm wondering where the hell this is coming from.
Unless, perhaps, I'm not as straight as I thought? I've been looking at sexual orientation as more of a spectrum lately, so it's possible, right? See, there's this girl Funabisenu knows, and she's really cute. But maybe I'm just attracted to her masculine qualities? Whatever. I'll just try to keep an open mind.
For some reason, I've started swearing a lot when I'm alone. Lots of F-bombs dropping, and the occasional "goddamnit" or "shit" around friends. Maybe it's the teenage influence? Tacky, but amazingly satisfying.
Also, I can't stop telling people when I feel the need to empty my bladder. Even at times when I could just go. My classmates will just be minding their own business, and then they're forced to listen to me: "I have to pee." Friends, you have permission to hit me next time I do this. In fact, it's a request.
A word to the wise: Do not get a Facebook puppy. Too much work, and if you're like me, you'll feel terrible about frequently starving it half to death just because you have a life.
Meh. Time to get started on homework.
We dropped Brother #2 at college today! I won't miss him much, since he's been at boarding school for two years, but it is sort of weird thinking of him as a college student. And I'm a high school student!
O_O *explode*
Anyway, he's at
NEC in Boston. After helping him unpack a bit, we (parents and me) took him out to eat with Blondie, who is also a freshman at the school.
But before the food, there was an
amazing concert! The performers were all students at NEC, working for either a bachelor's or master's degree in music. First, there was a cellist who played Bach, and then a pianist and singer performed something from a Spanish opera. The soprano was wonderful, and she was blind. It was really powerful to see her up on stage, singing her heart out. There was a flutist who played something by a composer I'd never heard of, and that was awesome, too. He seemed very nice.
My favorite part was a piano piece by Lizst, a famous composer and piano virtuoso. The pianist was a cute-looking young man who was probably Korean, but I'm not sure. I swear, his hands were like a blur sometimes! And the music was really beautiful, although I can't really give Lizst credit for that, as he took the melodies from an opera. His music is generally about the technique, not the music, so I'm not a fan.
This has been a terrible day for my body image. Sigh. I just goot this adorable t-shirt online, and it's sort of tight. The jeans are low right now, so my flab is more prominent than I'd like it to be. Sometimes I just get depressed about the way I look, even though I know it's not important. I think it stems from my desire for a life partner, and the message I'm getting from the media that says, "No man wants you... you're too fat! Lose some weight, then you can have what you want." Except, I'm not going to do that because I don't need to. Grrrrr...
I think one of my parents' worst mistakes was letting me play with Barbies. Sure, I enjoyed them, but look at that last paragraph! I'm ashamed of its subject matter, and would only say those things out loud to my closest friends. But this is what blogs are for, I guess.
I should really be doing work, not blogging about this, but... Oh, well.
Happy birthday, Raidou!
<3
Namiashi Raidou. I love him because he's pretty much average, and one could argue that there are too many outstanding characters in Naruto.
Plus, his scar is cool. This is not the most attractive picture of him, but it was the best I could find. He's a pretty minor character.
^_^
And here he is with the beautiful Genma. They're good friends. Also a popular slash couple.
*cough* ALSO: HAPPY (LATE) BIRTHDAY TO TEMARI!
This is a hilariously popular screenshot from the anime.
And this one's just hilarious. I think it's from a pretty intense scene, but... I mean, come on! Look at her her mouth! (It's funny because she's generally very serious and confident.)
And 2.5 years later! She's with Shikamaru in this one. It's hinted that they're dating, and they're absolutely adorable together, regardless of the nature of the relationship. When he's younger, Shika always talks about how annoying women are, and how he wants one who is average-looking and easy-going. Temari doesn't exactly fit that description!
OKAY! TIME FOR SCHOOLWORK!!!!!
Periods suck. 'Nuff said.
